This is, put simply, dumb fun. An anime cannot get more entertaining than40409.jpg this. The over-the-top drama and the stressed pacing of the fights make watching this show a better experience. The color palette of this show is bright and unique. Okay, let me make this review a bit more constructed…

Story and Characters: The first season covers the first two parts of the “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” manga: Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. The story is pretty simple but the best thing about this is that it is not drawn out. The first part of the story  is basically hero vs. villain character drama, in fact, both parts are like that. I am quoting MAL’s synopsis here:  In 1868, Dario Brando saves the life of an English nobleman, George Joestar. By taking in Dario’s son Dio when the boy becomes fatherless, George hopes to repay the debt he owes to his savior. However Dio, unsatisfied with his station in life, aspires to seize the Joestar house for his own. Wielding an Aztec stone mask with supernatural properties, he sets out to destroy George and his son, Jonathan “JoJo” Joestar, and triggers a chain of events that will continue to echo through the years to come.
Half a century later, in New York City, Jonathan’s grandson Joseph Joestar discovers the legacy his grandfather left for him. When an archeological dig unearths the truth behind the stone mask, he realizes that he is the only one who can defeat the Pillar Men, mystical beings of immeasurable power who inadvertently began everything.

The characters are pretty one-dimensional and their dialogues are over-dramatic and comical but that’s what makes JoJo’s JoJo’s. The character designs are unique as well.

Art and Animation: The art is very bold and looks great on both still and moving frames. The bold lines and the presentation of sound effects (like in manga) on-screen is pretty original. I cannot gush over the color palette enough. The opening seqence is done in CG and is beautiful to look at, definitely one of the best OPs I have seen so far.

Sound: The soundtrack is pretty good and I have no complaints (I rarely have complaints about soundtracks). Both the ending and openings are nice and I appreciate that so much care has been given in this anime’s production (Studio: david production)  and the first opening shows it.

Conclusion: This anime is fun and crazy. However, sometimes the over-the-top storyline and dumb atmosphere of it can be off-putting at times. Other times, this show is very easy to watch. Overall, I give this show an 8/10.  That’s all I have for this review. If you think you liked this review, like this. If you did not, complain in the comments below. Thank you.
